FAQ's
How do the 'Moving Memories' plaques and blocks work?
- Your plaque will feature the photograph that you have selected as well as any writing and personalised details that you requested. To make your memories come to life, you will need to open the app 'Membook'. You can either download this for free or do a softlaunch of the app on your phone which will simply open the app to allow it to work its magic. You can use the app to scan the QR code located on your block or plaque. Once you have scanned the code, direct your phone camera at your photograph and in its place, your video file will play.
How do I take the best photo and video for my block or plaque.
- We recommend using a camera or a smartphone with a good quality camera to take your photo and video files. Preferably take your photos and videos on the camera app on your phone. Photos and videos taken on 'Snapchat' are usually of a lower quality and are also more elongated, making them more difficult to fit nicely on your plaque.
- If you have pucrhased a portrait block, we recommend orienting your camera accordingly, likewise if you have purchased a landscape block, photos and videos taken in landscape orientation will work much better. If you have purchased a 10x10 sqaure block, lanscape orineted photos and videos work better however portrait will work fine in most cases.
- We also recommend taking your photo in good lighting at a time when your subject or subejcts are looking their best - afterall this photograph is going to be around for a long time!
- To acheieve the seamless look of your photo coming to life, we recommend centering the subejct on your phone or in the viewfinder of your camera. and snapping a photo. Switch to video mode and take a couple of steps backwards whilst keeping your subject in the same position and begin filming your video. When you are happy with the results you can upload them to your order.
How do I get my block to look its best?
- For your block or plaque to look and work its best, there are a few things that we recommend. First and foremost, it is important that the photo and video files that you upload are of a high quality. Grainy or low resolution files may ruin the appearence of your block and will not have the same effect as high quality images and videos.
- Second, we recommend that the photo and video files that you use bare some relevance to the design that you have selected. For example, if you have chosen to purchase a pet block, select a photo and video file that best showcase your pet. We also recommend that the photo and video orientation match the plaque or block that you have chosen (portrait or landscape).
- Last of all, to get that seamless, magic look, we recommend taking your photo and video files one after the other. By this, we mean taking a photo of your subject and then taking a video shortly afterwards, preferably with the subject located in the same pose or position as the photo that you took. This will give the impression of your photo coming to life.
Will my photograph start moving on the plaque?
- No, your photograph on the block will not move. In its place, the video file that you chose will play through your phone.
What are the plaquesand blocks made of?
- Your order will be printed onto a clear acrylic block or plaque. Acrylic is thick, robust and does
not chip or crack easily.
Do I need an internet connection for my block or plaque to work?
- Yes, you will need an internet connection to download the app. Once you have scanned the QR code once and the app is downloaded on your phone, you can use the app without an internet connection.

Due to the nature of the product and the time that is required for us to create this personalised original and evocative gift, we would require 5 - 7 working days processing time.
